Comedian Biog: Terry Alderton
Until now, ex-Southend goalkeeper and former holiday camp entertainer was comedy’s best-kept secret. This astounding act is a riot of exuberant, loose-limbed physical comedy, extraordinary caricatures and stunningly acute impressions. Combining a fearless onstage presence, unshakeable confidence and streetwise hyperactive delivery, Terry leaves his audience exhilarated and exhausted with laughter.
2000 was a great year for Terry after a highly successful sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe where he was nominated for the prestigious Perrier Award. This lead to Terry hosting the National Lottery programme, Red Alert, with Lulu for the BBC. Terry also appeared on The Royal Variety Show (ITV) and last year hosted theme nights for Channel 4.
Other television appearances have included playing a yardie gangster in Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (Channel 4), Jeff Wade, a Huntington disease sufferer in Holby City (BBC), Ian Wright’s Friday Night’s All Wright (ITV), Stupid Punts (BBC2), The Stand Up Show (BBC1), Saturday Live (ITV), Night Fever (Channel 5), two series of The Comedy Store (Channel 5) and It Shouldn’t Be On TV (Sky). Terry recently filmed a documentary called MYFC (Channel 5) about Southend United Football Club.
Terry currently hosts his own football and music-based radio show, Terry’s Turnstiles for Capital Radio which is broadcast nationally on Saturday afternoons.
