November News
November came with a bang this year at The Comedy Club, with shows, events and corporate’s all over the UK. In what seems a blink of an eye, our acts have been everywhere; with Phil Butler and Brian Higgins entertaining our troops in Afghanistan and Bosnia, to Chambers & Nettleton and John Ryan providing their support in the Unison Rally.
November also saw the last of the Open Spot positions at The Comedy Club in Chelmsford. Each week an aspiring comic comes to the stage in the South East’s premier comedy venue, all using every ounce of wit and energy to get the all important laughs in just 10 crucial minutes. It’s tough, but keep an eye out in the new year to see more up and coming talent mixing with the very best comedians as seen on TV. A truly unique chance so get yourself along. Terry Alderton another Comedy Club star for an evening early in November, performing at three different venues all in one evening, it was a big ask, but he came strong and all went without hitch!
Further to all this, Kevin McCarthy impressed in performing a great Jools Holland warm-up, whilst Ronnie Edwards was called in at the last second to keep the students and locals alike, happy at Lava Ignite in Norwich. So a busy month for everyone involved, but we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Hi Linda,
Kevin is a real favourite at ‘Later with Jools Holland’, and you’re right to ask if he is ever going on the show. Early in 2007 there is a possibility he will be going on the show, when it’s recorded we’ll post it up the the month’s news, so keep your eyes peeled and hopefully you won’t be disappointed. With regards to where you can see Kevin, you can find him on the ‘Comedians’, or simply click here.
Thanks for your question

Would it be possible to book someone like Terry Alderton to appear at a private function?
My daughter is a big fan and we would like to book him to appear at her wedding reception next year as a surprise.
If this is at all possible can you tell me who I need to contact?
Thanks,
Sally Riley.

Hi Nell,
Nice to see a smilie face on the blog! Michael’s really shot to fame since the Royal Variety Show in 2006. I was lucky enough to see him at our Chelmsford venue not too long before he was on the big one. Unfortunately we have no information of Michael performing around the Staffs area at the moment, i think he’s been huddled into a few studios to do some filming. It may be the case that you’ll see him on a channel like BBC3 before he’s back on the circuit.
Hope this has been of some help, good luck with your hunt.
Andy
